Competence, confidence, courage, certainty and consistency - why it matters when you want to go for it.

'I have taken the plunge and have began a journey of self employment, entrepreneur, business owner and the mistress of my own destiny' .... This was back in 2017, after one of the most difficult chapters of my life, I reached a point where I knew something had to change. Life had given me a wake-up call, and I couldn’t ignore it any longer.

I realised that fulfilment wasn’t going to come from playing small or staying comfortable — it had to come from creating a life that felt meaningful and aligned.

So I took the leap. I stepped away from the security of a steady job and began the journey of working for myself — a journey of self-discovery, empowerment, and purpose. It wasn’t about chasing titles or ticking boxes anymore; it was about finding work that lit me up and allowed me to help others do the same.

That decision led me to create Wildlingways — born from a desire to help people reconnect with themselves, their environments, and the deeper purpose that guides them. Over time, my path has evolved to blend all the things I love: energy work, holistic living, human design, astrology, and creating beautiful, aligned spaces through property and lifestyle transformation.

It’s been a journey of rebuilding, reimagining, and redefining what fulfilment really means — not just for me, but for anyone ready to live with more authenticity, freedom, and flow.

THE LEARNING CURVE - COMPETENCE

One of the biggest gifts from that time was space — the walking, the thinking, and the long hours that gave me time to learn. I became obsessed with growth. Podcasts, audiobooks, and online mentors became my daily company, each one opening new doors in my mind about what was truly possible. I immersed myself in the teachings of brilliant entrepreneurs, coaches, and thought leaders — people who had taken risks, fallen, and risen stronger. Their stories showed me that success isn’t about luck, it’s about learning, adapting, and taking consistent action.

Those long walks became my classroom. I listened, reflected, and began applying what I learned in small but steady ways. The more I learned, the more I realised — competence isn’t something you’re born with; it’s built through courage, repetition, and patience. Every skill I picked up, every challenge I faced, helped me build confidence in my own ability to create the life I wanted.

I’ve always been multi-passionate — curious, creative, and driven by purpose. It used to make me feel scattered, but now I see it as my superpower. My energy, my enthusiasm, and my ability to connect the dots between wellness, mindset, and business have become the foundation for everything I do. That’s what real competence is — knowing yourself, embracing what makes you different, and using it intentionally.

There is one thing listening to all the ideas but I learnt that to start you have to niche down on exactly what you want to do, you cant be everything to everyone. If your anything like me. I am multi passionate about mostly EVERYTHING!, I'll start one thing, then another and another (you know, you end up doing nothing and revert right back to the CZ (comfort zone). THEN YOU HAVE TO TAKE ACTION. But before that comes this .....

MINDSET IS EVERYTHING - CONFIDENCE

I got focused and how I done that was with 1, the help of a life coach who helped me get real with what I wanted to achieve and 2 I had to go through some powerful mindset shifts and that is not always easy but absolutely necessary if you want to build a business or accomplish anything for that matter. You will have a whole host of repetitious behaviours that you've had from childhood and social conditioning that have to be overcome. I used a variety of tools to help with this from meditation, journaling (hello!), self awareness tools (see my other blog post on the 'how') and various courses that change your self conscious beliefs that you have picked up over the years. Was it easy? no not really, I had to drag a lot of my past up and re write my beliefs, I had to get uncomfortable as really that is the only way. You have to trust in yourself and you have to 'realise' your self worth, you have to be brave, you need courage and you have to believe that you are good enough (you are!) and that can be the most difficult for some, but let me tell you it is worth it. Your head has to be in the right place, you have to be prepared to step outside you guessed it, your CZ! You must be prepared to work on your personal development on a daily basis I would say.

YOUR'E NOT ALONE - COURAGE

The beautiful thing about this journey is that you’re never truly alone — even when it feels like it. Over the years, I’ve connected with so many incredible communities: spiritual business owners, entrepreneurs, mindset mentors, and wellbeing coaches who are all walking a similar path of growth and self-discovery. Each one brings their own wisdom and energy, and together, they remind me that courage grows stronger when it’s shared.

Stepping into something new — whether it’s a business, a passion project, or a complete life shift — takes bravery. It asks you to trust yourself when the outcome isn’t guaranteed, to take responsibility for your choices, and to stay committed even when fear shows up. But the freedom that comes from backing yourself is worth every bit of uncertainty.

I’ll never forget that feeling of freedom — like running into the sea at night, shouting into the waves, completely alive and unbound. That’s what courage feels like: the moment you release the weight of expectation and realise you’re capable of so much more than you’ve been led to believe.

Courage doesn’t mean you’re fearless. It means you move with the fear, knowing that on the other side is expansion, growth, and a deeper connection to who you truly are. And the best part? Every time you act courageously, you give someone else permission to do the same.

RESISTANCE IS YOUR FRIEND - CERTAINTY

Resistance often shows up right before a breakthrough. It’s that quiet (or not-so-quiet) voice that whispers, “Are you sure? Maybe it’s safer to stay where you are.” For a long time, I mistook resistance for a warning — a sign that I was on the wrong path. Now I understand it for what it truly is: a test of faith, a nudge from the universe asking, “How much do you really want this?”

Whenever you move toward something new — a business, a dream, or a version of yourself you haven’t fully stepped into yet — resistance is natural. It’s the ego trying to protect you from the unknown. But growth doesn’t happen in the comfort zone. It happens when you push past that initial friction and take action anyway.

Over time, I’ve learned that resistance can actually be a powerful ally. It’s there to strengthen your commitment and sharpen your clarity. Each time you face it, you’re being asked to align more deeply with your purpose and trust yourself a little more.

The moment you stop fighting resistance and instead welcome it as part of your evolution, everything begins to shift. Energy flows. Confidence builds. Certainty replaces doubt. You move from questioning whether you’re on the right path — to knowing that you are.

So, the next time resistance shows up, don’t retreat. Pause, breathe, and remind yourself: this is what growth feels like. Lean in with certainty. That’s where transformation happens.

FLOW AND MOVEMENT - CONSISTENCY

Building something meaningful takes time, courage, and an incredible amount of consistency. There’s no shortcut to success — it’s a dance between persistence and flow. You show up, you learn, you adjust, and you keep moving forward, even when it’s hard.

When I first started out, I still had to keep a steady income while I built my business — what I like to call a “bridging job.” It gave me the space to grow without the pressure of overnight success. There’s no shame in that; in fact, it’s smart. It allows you to stay in motion while your dreams are taking shape.

I sold what I didn’t need, invested in myself, and trusted that each step — no matter how small — was taking me closer to the life I was creating. That’s what consistency looks like. It’s not glamorous, but it’s powerful.

One of my favourite books, The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks, talks about how we set limits on ourselves — how we hold back just as things start to move forward. I’ve learned that real growth happens when you stop resisting that next level and simply decide to go for it.

So ask yourself: what’s your why? What does success truly mean to you? Because when your purpose aligns with your actions, momentum becomes effortless. It’s no longer about forcing; it’s about flowing.

Consistency is the bridge between where you are and where you want to be. It’s showing up even when no one’s watching, trusting that every bit of effort compounds over time. My motto still stands: it’s not just about the destination — it’s about the journey getting there. And what a ride it’s been so far.
